PepperJack Kennels Gun Dog Program
PepperJack Kennels offers an extensive gun dog training program to train your retriever to the desired level you seek for your hunting companion.
From obedience training that includes socialization and completion of basic obedience, along with becoming a good citizen to our most advanced program of master hunter, we are all inclusive. The PJK team is highly skilled and extremely dedicated to the well being of each and every dog. Our Woodville, WI property operates year round and is designed specifically as a gun dog training facility with unique land training features along with outstanding water features.
Requirements
Gun Dog Training Base Pay: $900 per month
Age: We ask your dog be at least 8 weeks old to start our gun dog training programs, but will work with dogs any age after.
Required Vaccinations:
- Distemper/Parvo/Rabies
- Leptosporosis
- Bordetella
Flea & Tick Prevention Required: Seresto Collar

Obedience Training Program – Typically 2-3 Months
The training includes socialization, introduction to crate, learning limits, walks, walking on leash (two sides), heel, (two sides), here, side and front sit, sit to whistle, introduction to retrieving, introduction to birds, introduction to water, introduction to gunfire and single retrieves.
Basic Hunter Training Program – Additional 4-5 months after obedience training
Our basic hunter training program (after completion of obedience program) includes force fetch, E-Collar Conditioning, lead steady, delivery to hand, introduction to land and water doubles, and steady with limp lead or no lead.
Senior Hunter Training Program – Additional 4-5 months after obedience and basic hunter
This program includes (after completion of basic/senior program) Pile work, double tee, swim by, simple conventional de cheating, pattern blinds, blind drills, elementary cold land blinds, simple cheating singles, taught channel blinds, wagon wheel, 8 handed casting, land and water doubles.
Master Hunter Training Program – Additional 4-5 months after obedience, basic and senior hunter
This program includes (after completion of senior program) pattern blinds with diversion, cold channel blinds, complex cheating singles, complex cheating marks, simple tune ups, simple retired memory marks, increased complexity of multiples, handling for marking errors such as switching, going for old falls, and fading with factors.
A master trained dog is well polished and is doing advanced marking and blind concepts with emphasis on steadiness and willingness to handle on marks, multiple blinds, dry shots, and diversions with emphasis on hunting settings such as game calls, decoys, duck blinds, boats, handler with gun and quartering. They will be advanced in remote sits and placing on stands.
